The Ground Rules

A dialogue, as defined by dictionary.com, is “an exchange of ideas or opinions on a particular issue…with a view to reaching an amicable agreement or settlement.” The hope of this blog is to do just that…create a dialogue that allows each of us as participants to exchange ideas, to learn and grow from the process, and to come out the other side with new perspective and understanding. With that in mind, I request the following…

1-What you write on this blog is not your last will and testament. Feel free to explore ideas, to engage others in robust conversation, and to even disagree with yourself. You’re eternal security doesn’t rest in these pages, so ask lots of questions and explore lots of territory.

2-Give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Spend at least 5 minutes allowing that the person that most obviously disagrees with you might be right and you might be wrong.

3-Disagree with love. We’re going to see things differently. That’s ok. But let’s model what Christ-like disagreement looks like. There are already enough babies flying with the bath water.

4-Converse. Don’t just read and keep your thoughts to yourself. Post, respond, and post again.
